Drug dealer sentenced to state prison term

A Carbon County drug dealer was recently sentenced to a state prison term by the county court.

Joseph Tate, 49, of Palmerton, was sentenced by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to serve 21 to 48 months in a state prison on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance-heroin.He was arrested by agents of the state Attorney General's office for making at least six sales to an undercover agent at locations in Palmerton and Allentown.He sold a total of 117 bags of heroin to the agent. The plea was to one of the sales.Tate, who was also found to be in violation of parole/probation conditions previously imposed, was also ordered to supply a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee, get both a drug and alcohol and mental health evaluation, and zero tolerance imposed on D&A use.He was given credit for 242 days spent in prison on the charge.Tate is currently in the state system on other charges.
