The Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 instead of the original Tuesday date.Fifth-grade parents will meet at 6 p.m. The meetings will be held in the Tamaqua Elementary School Library.The meeting change is due to the appearance of the Harlem Wizards, who will present a show on Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Tamaqua Middle School gymnasium.Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the game will begin at 6:30 p.m.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville.Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m., Daisies, Brownies and Cub Scouts will all meet at 6 p.m.Activities for next week will include: Monday, food co-op at 9 a.m.; Wednesday, retirees' meeting at 10 a.m.; Thursday, apple dumpling pick up from 2 to 5 p.m., prayer group will meet at 4:45 p.m., cherub choir rehearses at 6:30 p.m., junior choir practices at 7 p.m. and the senior choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m.Veterans DayTwo events have been scheduled in Tamaqua to honor local military veterans.A flag-raising ceremony in honor of Veterans Day will be held at 7:25 a.m., Nov. 9, in front of the Tamaqua Area Senior High School. The public is welcome to attend.Tamaqua's annual Veterans Day Parade will be held this Saturday, Nov. 10. Parade formation will begin at 9 a.m. at the former Maff Motors, 900 E. Broad St.The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and travel west on Broad Street.The event is sponsored by the Tamaqua American Legion, C.H. Berry Post 173.Calvary EvangelicalThe Rev. Dr. Ed Bean will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, a time of praise, worship and Bible study will be held at 6:30 p.m.On Wednesday, a time of praise, worship and Bible study will be held at 7 p.m.First MethodistThe Rev. James Cavallero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in First United Methodist Church. The service will include a children's message, offered by Marge Kropp. Sunday school will be held following the message.Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m. and a Bible study session will be at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Bible study at 10:30 a.m. and the chancel choir will rehearse at 7 p.m.MOM will meet at 7 p.m. on Nov. 14.
