Not enough rain to determine if retention pond is working

Joe Ehritz asked East Penn supervisors during public comment if the retention pond in the Schleicher mobile home park had been checked because at the October meeting he told supervisors it was not retaining water and releasing it slowly. At Monday's meeting Supervisor Cory Smith said he went up during the rain but there was not enough to determine if the retention pond was working.

A privately owned truck has been parked in the township garage. Ehritz said it is time the supervisors see that it is moved because leaving it there is illegal. He said Clair Troxell has a large fuel tank on top of the hill behind the store in Ashfield that should be moved. During the regular meeting Solicitor Jim Nanovic was directed to write a letter to Troxell about moving it.Loretta Smith thanked supervisors for finishing work on Blue Mountain Road and asked, "What about Summer Mountain Road?"That will be cleared tomorrow (Tuesday), said Roadmaster Cory Smith.Jai Mertz said Troxell is moving dirt that is over a power line. He should have called Pa. One Call. If he hits it it is his fault, said Mertz. He took three loads of dirt to the community center. Troxell had been told he could not dump anything on that property.Harvey Keiper said sarcastically that he had pictures of the "fence" Troxell put up for him as a buffer for the trucks and equipment at the Route 895 property. That was back in 2001. The judge told Troxell to clean up the property and he was fined $645,500. The fine still stands waiting to see what the property owner does.If anyone sees someone tampering with the traffic lights at the East Penn Elementary School, they are asked to call the police. The Nov. 19 planning commission meeting is cancelled. The township office will be closed Nov. 12, 22, 23, 29 and 30.The budget meetings for Nov. 15, 20 and 28 have been cancelled. The reorganization meeting is Jan. 7, 2013.
