JROTC Boosters meeting

The next meeting of the Panther Valley JROTC Boosters will be held on Monday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. in the JROTC room. Elections will be held at this time. All parents and guardians are welcome to attend.Anthracite Little League meetingThe Anthracite Little League will host a meeting at 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Summit Hill borough building.The meeting will be to discuss the future of the organization, which will include nominations for officers/board members of the association. Included for discussion or debate will be the president, vice president, secretary, player agent and coaching coordinator.Also included will be the Women's Auxiliary president, vice president and secretary.All members of the association are encouraged to attend as it is important to the future of the organization.LansfordSt. John LutheranTonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer. For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult Bible study and confirmation program at 6:30. For more information call the Rev. Marjorie Keiter, (570) 273-4038.Summit HillShade Tree CommissionThe Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission will be conducting its fall tree plantings along the borough streets on Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27. Any borough resident or businesses interested in having a tree planted in front of their property may call John Kupec at (570) 645-9644 or Lou Vermillion at 645-9772 for information. Memorial trees will also be planted.Donations toward the cost of the trees will be accepted. Trees will be ordered in mid-October.Volunteers on the planting days are always welcome as well as contributions to the Shade Tree Commission's efforts.NesquehoningPublic square rosary cancellationThere will be no public square rosary held at St. Patrick's cemetery on Saturday. The rosary will be said before 4:30 Mass dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima for the intention of our country.
