Edith Smith of Jim Thorpe recently celebrated her 90th birthday. The former Edith Heckman, she was born on Sept. 14, 1922.

She was married to the late Floyd Smith for 53 years.Her birthday dinner celebration was attended by her children Cheryl (Smith) Popek of Lehighton and Randall Smith of Jim Thorpe as well as their spouses.Also honoring their grandmother were Niccole (Popek) Burke, Rachel Popek, Katie Smith and Lee Smith, along with great-grandchildren Faith and Sawyer Chrisman and Maggie Burke. Also in attendance was Edith's best friend Lillian Popek.
