West Penn man admits stealing from family members; gets probation

A West Penn Township man who stole from his father and grandmother was one of 17 defendants who entered guilty pleas in Schuylkill County court to criminal charges and were sentenced by Judge Charles M. Miller as follows:

Richard George Wolfe, 23,of 232 Millhead Road, on 13 counts of theft by unlawfully tasking or disposing moveable property and three counts of unauthorized use of checks of his father and grandmother's credit card, was placed on probation for 59 months and ordered to pay $100 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, and make restitution of $441.70 to George Wolfe and $283.25 to M&T Bank. Lorah, last April 12.Other pleasMichael Vincent Gustis, 31. of 111 Bear Creek Drive, New Ringgold, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia when stopped by Trooper Robert Oakley last Nov. 23 on SR61 in West Brunswick Township, was placed on probation for 12 months, and ordered to pay $50.Joseph Richard Angst, 46, of 21 Main St., Middleport, on a charge of harassment of Marie Louise Galuska following a domestic dispute on Oct. 14, 2011, was given credit for serving 14 days in the county prison and released on parole, ordered to attend and complete the Batterer's Program, pay $50 to the CJEA fund, and a $150 fine. Walters.Joseph Edward Boris III, 20, Minersville, on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was given credit for serving 96 days in the county prison and released on parole for 12 months, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $50 to Schuylkill County Drug Task Force, and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.Charles Daniel Ogden, 25, Pottsville, on charges of delivery of a controlled substance and criminal use of a cell phone was sentenced to serve six to 23 months in the county prison, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $40 to Pottsville Drug Task Force, and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.Robert L. Edwards, 32, Minersville, on a charge of simple assault, was sentenced to serve one to two years in a state correctional facility with credit for spending 107 days in the county prison, pay $50 to the CJEA fund, and make restitution of $2,178.50 to Charles Kull, victim, and $768 to New Minersville Fire Company on a criminal mischief charge. Edwards was cited by Minersville Patrolman Thomas Hoban.Raymond H. Gregory II, 22, Saint Clair, on a charge of selling an offensive weapon while not having a license was sentenced to serve one to 12 months in the county prison. On a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia received a concurrent 30 days and 12 months probation sentences. He also must pay $100 to the SAE fund, and $100 to CJEA fund. He was cited by Pottsville police.Joshua Kyle Harkins, 28, Frackville, on a charge of theft of personal property from the home of Walter Miechowski, 1177 Center Turnpike, West Brunswick Township last Dec. 17 was sentenced to serve one to two years in a state correctional facility. On a charge of criminal mischief must serve an additional 12 months on probation. He received credit for spending 150 days in the county prison. He also must pay $50 to the CJEA fund and make restitution of $2,446.46 to Miechowski, and $6,111.69 to Millville Mutual Insurance Company.. Harkins was cited by Trooper David F Beam.Lisa Ann Miller, 45, Ashland, on a charge of failing to furnish her probation officer with a drug free sample was placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA fund.Larry Michael Phillips, 45, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of stealing three newspapers belonging to Robert Krammes, Main Street, Schuylkill Haven, was given credit for spending107 days in the county prison and released on parole for12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and $50 to district attorney's office for bench warrant, and make restitution of one dollar to the victim.Justin Reber, 19, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of statutory sexual assault of person under age 16 was sentenced to serve one to two years in a state correctional facility. On a charge of corruption of minors through sexual act must serve an additional two years on probation, pay $50 to CJEA fund, make restitution of $3,423.20 to district attorney's office, $1,711.60 to sheriff's department for transportation costs, and a $50 fee to the district attorney for a bench warrant. Reber was cited by Patrolman David T. George.Anthony David Sekula, 30, Saint Clair, was sentenced on four burglary, two criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and one theft charge to serve 24 to 48 months in a state correctional institution with credit for serving 205 days in the county prison.He must also pay $300 to the CJEA fund and make restitutions of $8,543 to Catherine Cheruka,122-135 W. Hancock St., for theft of copper wire; $3,000.32 to Robert Oliver, 245 N. Front St., theft of copper wire; $9,194.09 to William Umbenhauer, 47 N. Front St., theft of heating units; $1,100 to Dale Kessler, Wade Road; $4,010.11 to Daniel Morgan, 20 S. Second St.; and $3,7000 to Tom Zugay, N. Mill St., all of Saint Clair. Sekula was cited by Saint Clair police.Steven Michael Wetzel, 39, Pine Grove, on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and criminal trespass was sentenced to serve one to 24months in a state correctional facility, pay $50 to CJEA fund and make restitution of $4,607.66 to Blaschak Coal Company located in Mahanoy Township. He as charged by Trooper Michael Breznik with operating a caterpillar loader owned by the coal company causing damages. On charge of defiant trespass he was fined $50.Joseph Peter Pinnelle, 61, Pottsville, abuse of corpse. His sentence was deferred to Tuesday, Nov. 13, as the court ordered a presentence investigation. He was cited by Pottsville Capt. Richard F. Wojciechowsky, who charged he failed to summon police the death of his girlfriend, Ruth Ann Golden, and was preparing to leave the area when cited.Shirley Elaine Smith, 47, Harrisburg, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was sentenced to serve one to 12 months in the county prison, and pay $50 to the CJEA fund. On two summary charges of operating a vehicle without an official inspection certificate and unauthorized transfer or use of a registration certificate was fined $50 plus $100 costs. Christopher Cruz.Robert Dean Steffie Jr., 41, Tremont, on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle was given credit for spending 188 days in the county prison and was released on probation for 23 months, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. Hummel.William James Strimboulis Jr., 42, Pottsville, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance was placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 30 hours of community service. He was cited by Minersville Patrolman Jeffrey R. Bowers. He received credit for serving 83 days in the county prison.Each defendant sentenced must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
