They'll be bringing in the sheaves, roasting pigs and firing up 500-horsepower engines this harvest season as West End Rotary hosts its fourth annual Oktoberfest and Car Show. The event will run rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Polk Township Fire Hall in Kresgeville.

Rotary's Oktoberfest will feature authentic German food, hand-pressed cider, music, a biergarten and pig roast, highlighted by an old-fashioned cakewalk and tricky tray. Admission to the event is free. Complimentary bagels and coffee will be served during registration from 10 a.m. to noon, with Peoples' Choice voting until 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at 3 p.m. with dash plaques given to the first 150 vehicles. Car classes run from pre-1940 through the present and include stock and custom vehicles, rods, trucks, motorcycles and works in progress.Attendance at the car show is free. Those who wish to exhibit their vehicles can purchase tickets before Oct. 9 or at the door. Each car show registrant will receive a voucher for an Oktoberfest meal or a la carte menu items. The original Oktoberfest occurred in Munich, in the Bavarian region of Germany, on Oct. 12, 1810. Today it ranks as one of the world's largest fairs, attracting more than five million visitors each year.
