Ross Township Community Day brings community awareness

Ross Township Community Day, held at the Van Buskirk-Haney Park on Anchorage Road in Saylorsburg, gets a little bigger and better each year, says Bernie Kozen, executive director of West End Parks and Open Space. This year there were 35 local vendors, organizations and non-profits that had displays. Leigh Cole and Dean Hornig were the entertainment. It is organized by Ross Township and the Ladies of Ross to promote community involvement, an opportunity to come out and meet neighbors, and learn about community organizations. Here Kim Ernsberger, the recreational manager for the Hamilton, Jackson and Pocono Park and Open Space Commission, helps Joey DiAngello and Jillian DiAngello, make a rattlesnake and a corn cob pin out of beads and paper. The HJP Park wants to make the public aware it is an all inclusive park for children of all abilities, in wheelchairs, autistic, and with issues with sight and hearing.
