WAHS prepares for Homecoming festivities

The Weatherly School District will hold a districtwide Homecoming with contests and athletic events. The events are being organized by the high school SGA. The elementary and middle school activities are under the direction of the Middle School SGA.

To prepare for the Homecoming weekend, the senior class will be decorating the bridge in town. The junior class hung ribbons leading up to and including the school complex in orange and black.The sophomore class will be decorating the soccer field for the games. The freshmen class prepared the balloon arch for the athletic events. The Middle School SGA will be decorating the middle school gym area and the High School SGA will be decorating the high school gym area.Once again, area businesses were asked to participate by "painting" our town in orange and black. The SGA encourages school and community to unite showing Wrecker spirit.Homecoming festivities kicked off last Monday, beginning spirit week at the high school, and will continue through the district until Saturday evening.Athletics events will take place all week. Festivities on Saturday, Sept. 22, will begin with the varsity girl's soccer team hosting Jim Thorpe beginning at 11 a.m. and the varsity boy's soccer team will host MMI beginning at 2 p.m. The homecoming court will be introduced during the boy's soccer game.A homecoming dance will wrap up festivities on Saturday evening starting at 7 p.m. in the high school gym. The king and queen will be crowned at 8 p.m. The dance will continue until 9 p.m.All Weatherly High School students are invited to attend the dance. If a student would like to attend from another school, a form must be filled out prior to the dance. The forms are located in the high school office.
