Open house

An Open House will be held Sept. 17 at the Tamaqua Area Middle School. Principal Christopher Czapla, encourages parents to attend and have the opportunity to meet with their children's teachers and obtain information concerning the school curriculum and student expectations.The open house will begin at 6:30 p.m. Parents should go to their student's homeroom and pick up a copy of their child's schedule and the bell schedule for the evening.Older and bolderThe Tamaqua Salvation Army's Older and Bolder sessions have resumed regular weekly meetings, which will be held Wednesdays, from 10 a.m. to noon.September activities will include: a special ice cream social on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Schuylkill Haven; Sept. 19, drawing demonstration by Donna Bieren and bell practice; Sept. 26, STS registration day and preparing for the annual volunteer appreciation dinner; Sept. 28, bell performance at the Tamaqua Salvation Army dinner meting, which will begin at 6 p.m.Summer concertsThe Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce will conclude its sixth year of presenting free summer concerts with a performance by It Takes Two on Sept. 13.
