Drivers of Lynn Township accident identified

The drivers of an accident that occurred in Lynn Township, Lehigh County on Sept. 4, at 6:34 a.m. have been identified.

According to State Police at Fogelsville, the two-vehicle crash occurred as a 2008 Ford Ranger, driven by Manuel G. Rocha, 52, of Allentown, was traveling north on SR309 in Lynn Township. Rocha was attempting to negotiate a right curve in the roadway while a 2000 Chevrolet SUV, driven by John J. Demjanick, 54, of Barnesville, was attempting to negotiate a left curve. The Ranger began to spin in a clockwise direction, subsequently over-corrected and crossed into the southbound lane of SR309. It impacted the front-end portion of the Chevrolet with its passenger side front-end .After initial impact, the Ranger came to final rest in the southbound lane of SR309, facing east. The Chevrolet, after initial impact, traveled in a southerly direction and impacted a building with the front-end portion of the vehicle. It came to final rest off the roadway on the property of 6806 Route 309, partially into the building, facing southwest.Rocha suffered minor injuries during the crash while Demjanick suffered major injuries. Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles and transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, by Northwestern EMS.Rocha was charged with driving vehicle at safe speed.Pictures of the accident appeared in Wednesday's edition of the TIMES NEWS on page 10.
