Tamaqua's Community 9/11 Remembrance Service, sponsored by the South Ward Playground Association, will be held next Tuesday, at 7 p.m., at the New Life Assembly of God Church, 407 Schuylkill Ave. Former Tamaqua Mayor Richard Hadesty will again serve as master of ceremonies and the line up of guest speakers will include several local and county officials.The public is welcome to attend and honor the victims of the 9/11/2001.Rush-Ryan seniorsThe Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Aug. 28 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 45 members in attendance. The business session was conducted by President Eleanor Schmerfeld.Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered an invocation. Reports were presented by secretary Gloria Gerhard and treasurer Shirley Becker. Birthday wishes were extended to Kathleen Valentine. Tina Frey and Rosetta Foulk were added to the sick list. A trip to the Bloomsburg Fair is being planned and a sign up sheet will be available at the next meeting.The group meets the second and fourth Monday of every month. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.SS. Peter and PaulThe Holy Name Society of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church will meet at 8 p.m. this Thursday. The meeting will be preceded by a Mass at 7:30 p.mFirst Friday observances will be held this week. Confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m. Friday, followed by Mass and devotions. Communion calls to parishioners living in Coaldale and Hometown will be made on Thursday, while Tamaqua residents will be visited on Friday.Bethany ECThe Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship services this No Excuse Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m. and will include a SKYPE session with the Wagners, currently residing in Africa.Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, musician rehearsal at 8:30 a.m. and praise practice at 9:30 a.m.
