Band camp in Tamaqua

The Tamaqua Raider Band is preparing for the upcoming high school football season, spending hour after hour at band camp during the last two weeks. In a long standing tradition aimed at relieving some of the tediousness involved, the second week of camp has been designated "Spirit Week." Band members are encouraged to show their spirit by dressing up in clothing geared towards the day's theme. This year's themes include: Tuesday, neon day; Wednesday, rock star day; Thursday, college day; and Friday, blue and white day. One of the incentives for participants is the opportunity to have an early lunch. Participating in Tuesday's neon day were: Beth Kistler, Damian Gulick, Makayla Wall, Adam Shumgardt, Amber Gulick, Nathan Gerace, Julia Reinert, Briana Heck, Joseph Franko, Jenny Beck, Flo Rios, Gavin Seip and Damian Munoz. Band members are counting down the days to the annual "Meet the Raiders Night," which will be held Aug. 22 at the Tamaqua Football Field.
