Tractor trailers driving north on SR309 through Tamaqua routinely drive up Mauch Chunk Street (towards the Dutch Hill section) instead of making the slight left onto Pine Street (SR309) at the Mauch Chunk Street intersection. This ties up police while they have to slowly escort the truck back down Mauch Chunk Street or through the small streets of Dutch Hill. This normally causes traffic to back up at the intersection. Neighbors say this has been going on for decades. Pictured is a police officer stopping traffic as he helps a tractor trailer back down Mauch Chunk Street onto SR309.
