Golden Agers

The Panther Valley Golden Agers began their July 23 meeting with a moment of silence for the victims of the shootings in Colorado. Sue Dopira led the group singing. Members of the chorus attended the meeting to discuss the possibility of visiting nursing homes in the future.Members who would like to attend the outdoor picnic must have their dues paid up to date. More details on the date and location of the picnic will soon be available.The next meeting will be held on Aug. 13. Anyone 55 and older is welcome to attend.On Sept. 24, a representative from Dream Come True will be the guest speaker.CoaldaleStreet pavingStreet paving will be taking place in the borough of Coaldale starting Monday, Aug. 6. Drivers should be alert and are asked to use caution as street closure and new traffic patterns are in place.Residents are asked to be on the look out for the posting of signs as no parking will be permitted during the time of paving.Streets to be paved include sections of Lehigh Street and sections of High Street.NesquehoningLions ClubThe next meeting of the Nesquehoning Lions Club will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Lengyel's Restaurant, 83 West Catawissa St.The meal will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6 p.m.All members are encouraged to attend.Summit HillCommunity Improvement OrganizationThe Summit Hill Community Improvement Organization (SHCIO) will hold its monthly meeting at the Borough Hall on Monday, August 6 at 7:00 p.m.All interested Summit Hill citizens are welcome to attend and help to make plans for the upcoming Hootenanny to be held Sunday, August 19 in Ludlow Park.
