Trinity Pantry accepts donation from Church World Services

A walk along the Lehigh Canal towpath in Weissport last fall resulted in a donation of $1.030.57 recently being donated to Trinity Pantry from Church World Services. The funds were raised at the annual Crop Walk held in October 2011.

Shirley Radler, is the local walk coordinator.The walk raised $4,122.27 when 154 walkers representing local churches walked to help fight hunger and poverty throughout the world. The proceeds were donated to Church World Services, with 25 percent donated to Trinity Pantry.Shirley Radler of LIFE (Lehighton Interfaith) presented the check to Carolyn Long, Trinity Food Pantry coordinator.The pantry is located at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton. The pantry is also part of Shepherd House Inc., Carbon County's Distribution system.Churches taking part in the walk were All Saint's Episcopal, Lehighton; Ben Salem United Church of Christ, East Penn Township; Dinkey Memorial Lutheran Church, Ashfield; First Presbyterian Church, Lehighton; St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Franklin Township; St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Albrightsville; St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Weissport; St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton; Trinity Lutheran Church, Lehighton; and Zion United Church of Christ, Lehighton.Trinity Pantry serves 400 plus families a month in the Lehighton Area School District.The date for the Crop Walk for 2012 is Oct. 14 at the Lehigh Canal Park, Weissport.
