Flowered hats and fancy tea cups were to be seen throughout Wesley Hall of Effort United Methodist Church when it held a Victorian Tea.

Dee Juris and Rosalie Juris were the co-chairs for the tea. Dee said they held one last year but the number of guests doubled as people were invited from other churches for the 2012 event.Someone comes in the door and is congratulated on the beauty of her hat. She said she just brought a cheap hat and glued flowers on it. Others seconded that source for their hats, but some came from attics and a horseback rider had a pink cowboy hat.Paige McKinsey has been playing the harp since she was in first grade. She performed throughout the program with the beauty of the music blending in with friendly talk around a table.Pastel tablecloths, lace and flowered napkins created a complement to the hats as they created a garden in the hall. Flowers, lace and candles were used in the centerpieces.After the opening prayer: "May God bring to you the happiness of knowing that he who fills your cup with life will keep it overflowing," teapots were placed on the tables - teapots as spectacular as the cups they were to fill. Each person brought her own cup and saucer."Where did you get the pretty hat" was heard over and over as people met friends old and new before going to the table on which a variety of colorful hors d'oeuvres were spread, provided by church members."Welcome. We are all so excited to see so many people, people from different churches. There is a large contingent from Reeders United Methodist Church," said Pastor Robin Fisher. "The apostle Paul said 'I have become all things to all people so I may save one.' Bless our time together."There were tables of decorative teapots to be seen near the entrance. Lisa Hoffman brought many with special themes such as a cat pot and Humpty Dumpty. She commented on the large variety.Laughter and joyful talk whiled away the afternoon with some of the talk being about another Victorian Tea next year. It was so successful they are considering knocking down a wall next year to provide more room.
