Summer reading

The dog days of summer are far from over. Stay cool with a good book and a shady tree to sit beneath.

The librarians at the Lehighton Area Memorial Library have chosen a few of their favorite books to recommend to area students.The grade level and recommended books are:First to third grade: Diary of a Worm by Dorreen Cronin, Something from Nothing by Phoebe Gilman, and Arthur and the Comet Crisis by Marc Brown (and the variety of otherchapter books and picture books about the adventures of Arthur).Fourth to seventh grade: Utterly Me, Clarice Bean by Lauren Child, A Tale of Two Castles by Gail Carson Levine and Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney (as well as the rest of the books inthe Diary of a Wimpy Kid series).Eighth to 12th grade: Girls Don't Fly by Kristen Chandler, Trash by Andy Mulligan, Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer by John GrishamThe Lehighton Area Memorial Library is located at 124 North St., Lehighton.
