PV Golden Agers

The July 9 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers opened with prayer, the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of "God Bless America." Norma Lee Burke led the group singing.Vice President Shirley Pavlick read the poem "Signs Of Aging."Plans are being made for an outdoor picnic to possibly be held at the Mauch Chunk Watershed, the #9 Mine picnic area or another facility in Jim Thorpe.Members of the chorus are reminded to attend the next meeting at 12:30 p.m. to discuss a possible reorganization.The next meeting will be held at St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church Hall in Lansford on July 23 beginning at 1 p.m.Summit HillSt. John LutheranTonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion.All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer.For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult Bible study and confirmation program at 6:30.For more information call the Rev. Marjorie Keiter, (570) 273-4038.Food pantryThe Summit Hill Food Pantry will be open on Tuesday, July 24 from 10 a.m. to noon.The food pantry is located in the Summit Hill Heritage Center on Hazard and Chestnut streets.There is to be no parking in the alley prior to 9:45 a.m.Recipients are reminded to bring along shopping bags.
