One week from today, a new album of rock singer Lita Ford will be released.

The LP, "Living Like a Runaway," refers to her first band The Runaways, of which she was a member between 1975 and 1980, achieving her international breakthrough.A British born rocker who grew up on the streets of L.A., Lita Ford is considered one of the most important female representatives of the rock genre. Being a founding member of the Runaways, one of the first girl groups which unexpectedly broke down barriers in the punk era as well as the male-dominated world of rock music, causing a stir with their six rebellious releases.Tonight, Ford makes a stop at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe, taking a break from the "Monsters of Rock" tour in which she is opening for two superstar groups, Poison and Def Leppard.The concert begins at 8 p.m. and tickets are available at the door.Ford said of the new project, "I wanted to write an album which gives people courage, inspires them and gives them new power, in other words the power of music. As it has done for me on difficult days, I want this music to help people to get through tough times, while remembering their happy times as well. It's happened to me plenty of times: fans come up to me and tell me how my songs have helped them in difficult situations, in a way it is almost like a soundtrack to their lives."The talented performer has had numerous hits, including the chart topping duet with Ozzy Osbourne "Close Your Eyes Forever," "What Do You Know About Love," "Shot Of Poison", "Larger Than Life" and "Kiss Me Deadly."In a phone interview from her bus, where she was overlooking the Mississippi River in Cincinnati, she explained why she's especially anxious for the concert at Penn's Peak.She said as an opening act for the Def Leppard and Poison concert, she has a limited time to be on stage. At Penn's Peak, "we can be ourselves; we just go off and have fun. We do what the hell we want. We do jamming.""It's a lot of fun and we're more intimate with the audience," she said.On any tour, the opening band has to cope with people coming in and finding their seats while the performance is occurring, she explained. "It's difficult to get their attention," she said.Ford said she enjoys touring; that it is the "most rewarding thing" of her career. "Being part of the Monsters of Rock tour is awesome," she said.She is extremely proud of the new album, gushing, "Living Like A Runaway is like a gift from God. The album is the biggest I've ever done and the fans are really loving it."The rocker said her team has team "invested a lot of time and effort into this kick ass project."She said, "We worked on the lyrics intensively to really give the songs a lot of meaning and that special emotional depth. I think that these are some of the best lyrics ever, period."She referred to numbers such as 'Devil In My Head,' 'Hate,' and 'The Asylum' which see her bare her soul in a way which she has never done before.Also contributing to the album is Nikki Sixx who wrote "A Song to Slit Your Wrist By".The concert by Lita Ford begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $24.
