Sen. David G. Argall (R-29) voted Friday in favor of an on-time state budget that holds the line on taxes.

"This budget is a bipartisan commitment to Pennsylvania that takes into account the tough economic realities we face as a commonwealth," said Argall. "Unlike our federal counterparts, we continue to reign in wasteful spending while appropriately funding necessary programs important to the future of this state."The legislature increased funding for school districts by more than $149 million from the Governor's original budget proposal. The budget also restores funding for local hospitals ($12.5 million.)Argall points to recent bipartisan reforms, both enacted and under serious consideration, that will save taxpayers in the long-run."Reforming our corrections system is a priority the Senate Government Management and Cost Study Commission, which I chaired, identified in 2010 as an area with serious cost savings."One budget-related bill, Senator Greenleaf's (R-Montgomery) Senate Bill 100 unanimously passed the Senate on Monday after receiving broad bipartisan support. Anticipated cost savings are over $250 million over the next five years."As requested by a majority of the constituents I represent, the Senate will continue to look at commonsense ways to shrink the size and scope of state government over the coming months," said Argall.
