Summer concerts

The Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the sixth year of its popular free Summer Concert Series, with mini concerts scheduled every other Thursday into September. This week's event will feature the country music of Jeremiah Jones.Additional events will include: July 19, Steve Brosky and Jimmy Meyer (blues); Aug. 2, Lizard Creek (Celtic); Aug. 16, Large Flower Heads (60s classics); Aug. 30, The Todd Wolfe Band; Sept. 13, It Takes Two (variety).The concerts are held from 6-8 p.m., on the platform at the Tamaqua Train Station, weather permitting.For more information, contact the chamber at (570) 668-1880 or email

www.tamaqua.net.Computer workshopsThe Tamaqua Salvation Army is sponsoring a series of free computer workshops designed to help participants become more familiar with computers and their uses.Judy Gordon, customer service representative from Wells Fargo Bank, will offer a workshop on online banking from 10-11:30 a.m. on July 2.The session will include information concerning online bill paying, fund transfers and web-based financial services.On July 9, a course on basic computer maintenance will be offered by Rich Shupp of Schuylkill County Computer Services.The workshop will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. and will offer tips on ways to keep your PC running smoothly, such as interior cleaning, file organization, hard drive maintenance, updates, virus scams, back ups and more.To register, call Dina at (570) 668-0410 or email

Peter and Paul Catholic Church will attend the 8 a.m. Mass this Sunday and receive Holy Communion as a group. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Nursery and Primary Church are offered during the later service.
