A Walnutport teen was shot and killed last week in an apparent attempted robbery in Michigan.

Joshua Stepp, 16, was shot about 5 p.m. on Monday, June 11, inside a trailer at the Westwood Heights mobile home park, which is located off Interstate 75, and about a mile north of Flint, Mich.According to information published in the Flint Journal, a suspect in the murder has been arrested. Police in Mt. Morris Township arrested Kiunda J. Burress, 29, of Flint. Burress turned himself into Flint police on Wednesday, June 13.The Journal reported that Stepp was with a friend and visiting the area. According to the report Sgt. Clay Hite, of the township police, said Stepp was apparently "at the wrong place at the wrong time."Hite said Stepp was in a trailer with another person while his friend that he accompanied to Michigan, went to a memorial service. Burress entered the trailer and was known by the trailer owner. He then attempted to rob the trailer owner.Burress fired one shot at Stepp. He died at a nearby hospital.The news reports indicated the shooting was the second killing within a week of a teenager in the area. On Friday, June 9, a 14-year-old teen was shot to death in Mott Park, which is an area near where Stepp was shot.Hite told the Flint newspaper that Stepp gave Burress no reason to shoot him.Stepp was a student at Northampton High School but dropped out and was starting a landscaping business, according to reports.
