All children will receive a free hot dog, drink and popcorn.First Congregational ChurchMorning Worship will be held at First Congregational Church at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 10, with Sunday School at 10 a.m.A Father's Day service will be presented at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 17, followed by Sunday School at 10 a.m.Vacation Bible SchoolVacation Bible School will be held at First Congregational Church, Ruddle Street, Coaldale, Monday through Friday, July 9-13. Classes will be held daily from 6-8 p.m. Students ages 3 to those finishing grade 11 are welcome to attend the sessions. The theme is "Adventures on Promise Island Where Kids Discover God's Lifesaving Love!"Bible lessons, crafts, snacks and song practice are on the agenda.To register for Vacation Bible School, please call (570) 645-9426 as soon as possible so materials can be prepared.Flag ceremonyThe Coaldale American Legion, the Sons of the American Legion and the Coaldale Volunteer Fire Company #1 will combine forces to conduct a Flag Retirement Ceremony on June 16. The ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. at the rear of the fire station on High Street.Anyone with old, frayed or torn flags, who wishes to dispose of them properly, may bring their flags with them that day or take them to the fire station, where there will be a drop off vehicle.Refreshments will be available. Donations will be accepted to replace flags, poles and brackets that were destroyed for the second time in two years.
