Miller-Keystone Blood Center

The Miller-Keystone Blood Center will run its bimonthly community blood drive on Tuesday, June 12, at the First United Church of Christ, next to Palmerton Borough Hall. Registration hours are 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This visit is sponsored by William and Marilyn Kissner.Previous donors can expect an email and/or phone call reminder, asking them to make an appointment. Those with appointments are given priority at registration; however, walk-ins are always welcome.College students home for the summer and high school students are especially encouraged to donate. School students do not need parental permission slips. Minimum requirements are: 17 years old, 110 pounds, general good health, no tattoos or body piercing within the last 12 months. First-time Miller donors should bring photo ID, such as a driver's license. Previous Miller donors should bring their Miller cards.They expect to have two Trima machines, which separate blood into its components, and will schedule their use, both to optimize their availability and to minimize wait times for donors. Please donate to support your local hospitals.Historical society meetsThe Palmerton Area Historical Society will hold its monthly general meeting on Monday, June 11, at 7 p.m. in the Palmerton Library.Following a short business session, the featured speaker will be David Altrichter, who will explain proper American flag etiquette, in observance of Flag Day. The public is invited to attend, without cost or obligation.Heritage Center exhibits hospital memorabiliaThe Feature Room of the Heritage Center, 410 Delaware Ave., is now showing memorabilia of the Palmerton Hospital Auxiliary, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.The center is open various hours from Wednesday through Saturday each week.
