A Lansford woman was sentenced to a county jail term on Thursday after pleading guilty in Carbon County court to a drug dealing charge. She was one of 16 defendants to enter a guilty plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Undercover buyCarissa Sandefer, 20, pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-heroin. She was arrested after she sold four bags of heroin to a confidential informant (CI) working for the state Attorney General's office. The sale was made on April 6, 2011, in the 100 block of W. Patterson St., Lansford.She also pleaded to one count of driving under the influence (DUI). She was arrested on Dec. 6, 2010, along SR54 in Nesquehoning after being involved in an accident. Given a test, the result was .13BAC. She was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program for first time offenders on the DUI charge but was revoked from it when arrested on the drug count.Serfass sentenced her to serve six to one day less 24 months in prison on the drug count and 48 hours to six months in jail on the DUI count with the terms running concurrent. She will also serve two years of probation after her parole is completed.She was also ordered to pay a fine of $500, one year license suspension on the DUI count, ordered to supply a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee, and render 100 hours of community service.She was given credit for three days spent in jail on the DUI count and paroled. She was given credit for 108 days spent in jail on the drug count and returned to the prison to complete her sentence.Other pleasOther defendants who entered pleas before Serfass included:Erik Ryan Boehm, 43, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count each of unsworn falsification to authorities and a summary offense of driving under suspension. He was arrested on March 12, in the area of Canal and Bridge sts., Weissport, by state police. At a vehicle stop he gave his brothers' name and signed information incident to the stop in his brother's name.Serfass sentenced him to serve three to one day less 24 months in the county jail, and render 100 hours of community service. On the summary offense he was fined $200.The jail term runs concurrent to a state prison term Boehm is serving for a probation violation which is tied to the Carbon arrest.Carl John Buchola, 56, of Kunkletown, pleaded to one count of DUI, a first offense. He was arrested on March 10, 2009, along Koch Road in Towamensing Township, by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .25BAC. Buchola was previously placed in the ARD program but was revoked.Serfass placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, and render 25 hours of community service.Mark Wayne Cummins, 50, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Sept. 4, 2011, along Bridge St., in Lehighton, by state police. Given a test, the result was .13BAC.Serfass sentenced him to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $500, one year license suspension, get a D&A evaluation, and render 25 hours of community service.He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. on June 9.Charles H. Hemmen, 35, of Ambler, Montgomery County, pleaded to one count of theft. He was arrested by Jim Thorpe police for an incident on July 24, 2011, in which he took a mountain bike belonging to Kenneth Hurley. The plea also included a second pending case of theft which was merged.Serfass deferred sentencing to a later date. Hemmen is currently serving a prison term in Bucks County.Michael P. Raynock, 59, of Macungie, pleaded to one count each of theft of services and public drunkenness, both as summary offenses.He was arrested by Hickory Run State Park rangers for not paying for a campsite on two occasions. When confronted about the incident he was found highly intoxicated.On the theft count he was sentenced to time served (40 days) and paroled and on the drunkenness charge he was fined $100 and costs. He was also ordered to make restitution of $38 to the park for the campsite fees.Gregory Andrew Macalush, 20, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of retail theft. He was arrested by Jim Thorpe police for an incident at Bob's Market, W. Sixth St., on March 23. He took items valued at $5.71 without paying for them.He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to make restitution of $5.71, and render 50 hours of community service.Scott A. Wescott III, 48, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Dec. 18, 2010, along Bankway in Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .20BAC.Serfass deferred sentencing.Steven Richard Swartz, 23, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Nov. 3, 2011, by agents of the Attorney General's office in the 300 block of Amiden St., Summit Hill.He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, and render 50 hours of community service.Josh Bierman, 28, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of simple assault. He was arrested on April 5 for an incident in Jim Thorpe in which he struck his mother, Robin Bierman. He told Serfass he had a drug addiction problem but is currently "clean". He also claimed he was trying to get into a inpatient rehabilitation program.Serfass sentenced him to time served (six days) to one day less 24 months in jail, get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance on D&A use, and render 100 hours of community service.Jeffrey James Tee, 23, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on July 12, 2011, in the area of 250 E. Amiden St., Summit Hill, following a vehicle stop. He was a passenger in the vehicle.He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance on D&A use, and render 50 hours of community service.Alisen Vanger, 23, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of DUI. She was arrested on July 19, 2010, along Patterson St., in Lansford. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance.Serfass sentenced her to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year, get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance on D&A use, and render 25 hours of community service.She begins the jail term at 9 a.m. on June 4.Hans H. Kuhn, 34, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of DUI, a first offense. He was arrested on March 11 along SR903 by state police. Given a test, the result was .15BAC.He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300, to get a D&A evaluation, and render 25 hours of community service.Bradley J. Brobst, 28, of Andreas, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Feb. 11 at Summit Avenue and Second St., Lehighton, by state police following a vehicle stop.Serfass placed him on probation for six months and ordered he get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance on D&A use, and render 50 hours of community service.Ryan Allen Cain, 44, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Nov. 14, 2011, by state police along White St., in Weissport. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance.Serfass sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one year license suspension, get a D&A evaluation, and render 25 hours of community service.He begins the jail term at 9 a.m. on June 8.Brian T. Boner, 50, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to a summary motor vehicle code offense of turning movements and required signals. He was arrested on Dec. 4, 2010, in Lansford, along E. Patterson St. He was originally stopped for suspicion of DUI, but that charge was never filed.He was fined $25 and costs.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs, which average about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
