The Rush Township Board of Supervisors was forced to close down the northern boundary of Delford Road, near the Beacon Diner, until further notice because the property might be owned privately.

Because the documentation of this road goes back so far, the representative of Arro engineering, William McMullen, said it could be difficult to find out whether the road is actually private or if it had been dedicated to the township."The relevant issues here are whether or not there was ever any proof the road was dedicated to the township in the first place," Solicitor Chris Reidlinger said during the supervisors meeting Thursday evening, "and if the road was dedicated to the township and it was used as a public road, certain steps would have to be taken to vacate it for the vacation to be legitimate."The board says the road will be closed temporarily, but does not know until when.Also discussed at the meeting was the American Red Cross blood drive, which will be held on Tuesday, July 17 in the meeting room of the municipal building.Next, Rush Township art contest deadline to find an official township emblem has been extended to Aug. 1. Children ages eight to 18 who are residents of the township are eligible to submit their ideas to the board of supervisors. Drawings should incorporate the township as a whole, embodying elements of its past, present and/or future. The winner will be awarded a cash prize of $200.Lastly, Scott Cramer's resignation as part-time police officer had been accepted, and filling his position as part-time officer are Bradley Hess and Shawn Kistler, who will both be paid a rate of $12 an hour.Next board of supervisors meeting will be Thursday, June 21 at 7 p.m. in the municipal building
