Legion to meetThe monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session.Plans for the upcoming Memorial Day festivities will be discussed at this time.A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.Food pantry newsThe Summit Hill Food Pantry, headquartered in the Summit Hill Heritage Center building, Hazard and Chestnut streets, will be open for its May distributions on Tuesday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to noon.Persons who have been receiving the food "boxes" are asked to note no telephone call reminders will be made. In the event there is a change in pantry hours, the recipients will be notified by telephone. Rosemarie Armon, pantry director, is maintaining an up-to-date roster with telephone numbers of regular recipients. Anyone whose contact information changes is required to notify her of that information.Borough councilThe monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held on Monday, May 14, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Michael Kokinda, president, will be in charge of the session.OLOAA registrationOur Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, is accepting registrations for kindergarten and new students in grades 1-8. Parents can register their child(ren) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at the school. They can also contact the school office to pre-arrange a more convenient time for signing up.At the time of registration, parents must present the child's birth certificate, baptismal certificate, immunization records and a registration fee.St. Paul LutheranThe Rev. Richard J. Hinkle, a retired pastor from Weatherly, will lead the worship service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, May 13. He will preside at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The Sunday school will meet at 9 a.m.Sunday, May 20, will be the last day of Sunday school for the season.NesquehoningSt. John LutheranTonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship.This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion.
