JROTC awards

Panther Valley High School's JROTC will hold it's Award Night on Tuesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. at the high school. Family and friends are invited to come out and congratulate the cadets.JROTC Boosters meetingThe monthly meeting of the Panther Valley High School JROTC Boosters will be held on May 21 at 6 p.m. in the JROTC room. Preparations for the annual picnic at Mauch Chunk Lake will be discussed.Little LeagueThe members of the Anthracite Little League teams of Nesquehoning and Summit Hill will parade from the VFW Post home down Center Street to the field on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. The public is welcome to cheer on the players and coaches along the parade route. The games will follow at the Nesquehoning Little League Field.The Anthracite Little League Association is seeking volunteers to assist in umpiring games for the 2012 Little League season. Deisinger, a retired pastor from Allentown, will lead the worship service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, May 6. He will preside at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The Sunday school will meet at 9 a.m.Sunday, May 20, will be the last day of Sunday school for the season.The church council will meet on Tuesday, May 8, at 7 p.m. in the church.SHHS graduatesThe Class of 1962 of the former Summit Hill High School would like to extend an invitation to anyone who attended the school to join the class members for their 50-year reunion. Kenneth Medve, pastor, will be the celebrant.NesquehoningCrime WatchThe next Nesquehoning Crime Watch meeting will be held May 9 at 7 p.m. in council chambers.Woman's clubThe Nesquehoning Woman's Club will hold its Spring Tea on Monday, May 7 at 7 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church.The executive board will provide the refreshments and the three fire companies will be honored. President Judy Moon will conduct the meeting.Entertainment will be by the Faberge dancers.
