A New Tripoli man was charged by Tamaqua police following an incident on Sunday night.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Brown and Nescopec streets at 9:11 p.m. for a reported assault.On scene they arrested Douglas Moyer, 52, for allegedly assaulting Jonathan Stefanik, 27, with a broom stick.Moyer was charged with aggravated and simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
