Twenty area residents enter guilty pleas, and are sentenced

Twenty area residents entered guilty pleas to criminal charges and were sentenced in Schuylkill County court by Judge John E. Domalakes recently.

David Scott Reed, 29, of Greenwood St., Tamaqua, formerly of Allentown, on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with person under age 16, corruption of a minor, and indecent exposure, was sentenced to serve 56 to 112 months in a state correctional facility with credit for serving 217 days in the county prison. Reed was cited by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods, last Aug. 26.Kareem Jamiai West Walker, 26, of 44 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, aggravated assault, sentenced to serve one to two years in a state correctional institution with credit for spending 27 days in the county prison.On charges of resisting arrest, recklessly endangering another person, criminal attempt to commit escape and disorderly conduct received concurrent sentence. Walker was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Karl Harig, last Jan. 11.Jerry Joseph Feathers, 31, of 218 Washington St., Tamaqua, criminal trespass on apartment at 322 W. Broad St., last June 1, and terroristic threats and simple assault on Barbara Moser, was given credit for spending 68 days in the county prison and placed on parole 23 months, and ordered to pay $50 to CJEA fund and perform 20 hours community service. Feathers was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Jeffrey Wainwright.Joseph B. Franz, 24, of 190 Lincoln Drive, Tamaqua, theft of metal from storage boxes near High Bridge along Lincoln Drive, Hometown, property of Reading and Northern Railroad Company, sentenced to serve12 months on probation, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and make restitution of $1,350 to the railroad.On a charge of defiant trespass was fined $200 and costs. Franz was cited by Rush Township Cpl. Duane Frederick, on March 17, 2011. The boxes are placed periodically along tracks and contain tools and materials to perform repairs on the track.Joseph Robert Holland, 30, of 223 Rowe St., Tamaqua, criminal trespass on property of Pottsville Housing Authority on Arch Street, placed on probation 12 months, fined $150, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 50 hours of community services. Holland was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Eugene Michael Yourey, last Sept. 9.Emily Ann Kehl, 19, of 249 W. White St., Summit Hill, criminal conspiracy to possess a controlled substance in area of High Street and Fisher Avenue, Coaldale, on Feb. 24, 2011, placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, perform 10 hours community service, and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Kehl was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell.Kevin H. O'Brien, 22, of 272 Third St., Coaldale, delivery of a controlled substance in parking lot of a mini market in Tamaqua on March 3, 2011, sentenced to serve three to 23 months in the county prison with credit for serving three days, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $160 to Schuylkill Drug Task Force, $113 to Bethlehem Crime Lab and perform 10 hours community service. O'Brien was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell.David Dannenfelser, 43, of 1435 Germans Road, Andreas, West Penn Township, resisting arrest and fleeing police in Rush Township last Aug. 15, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours of community service.On a charge of disorderly conduct was fined $100 and failing to have a driver's license fined $25 plus $100 costs. He was cited by Patrolman Richard Bekesy.Derek Raymond Schlorf, 22, last known address, Valley Road, Tamaqua, delivery of a controlled substance, intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia when cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Rodgers, in March 2011, sentenced to serve seven to 23 months in the county prison, pay $100 to SAE fund, $100 to CJEA fund, $365 to Bethlehem Crime Lab, and $200 to Schuylkill County Drug Task Force. On a charge of receiving four aluminum car rims stolen was given an additional 12 months probation sentence and make restitution of $400 to Walter Schlorf.Derek P. Snyder, 23, of 577 Blue Mountain Drive, Andreas, West Penn Township, possession of drug paraphernalia and small amount of marijuana when stopped by Trooper Troy Greenawald in Tamaqua on Sept. 23, 2009, placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $176 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, and perform 10 hours community service. Snyder was previously in the ARD program which was terminated when he failed to comply with the conditions.Matthew Adam Derr, 34, of 86 W. Miner St., Coaldale, driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs, placed in Restrictive Intermediate Punishment Program for 60 months, including a long term residential drug and alcohol inpatient treatment at Gratitude Halfway House in Altoona, electronic surveillance for 12 months, drug screening, fined $1,500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, make restitution of $5,790.15 to Nationwide Insurance Company, complete safety school, perform 40 hours community service, license suspended 18 months and install ignition interlock on car for 12 months. Derr was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Rodgers, on Aug. 31, 2010.He was also charged with resisting arrest and fleeing from Rush Township Police last Aug. 15, and was placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours of community service. On a charge of disorderly conduct was fined $100 and failing to have a driver's license fined $25 plus $100 costs.Christopher Michael Cataldi, 23, of 128 W. Rowe St., Tamaqua, simple assault on Zachary Halye last Oct. 26 was placed on probation for 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, undergo evaluation, and have no contact with the victim. Cataldi was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Rodgers.Dylan Danko, 19, of 227 Lauderburn Ave., Weatherly, false report to Rush Township police about theft of his vehicle, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and perform 10 hours of community service. Patrolman Corey Herring reported car recovered submerged in the Lofty Reservoir, Kline Township.Nicole Diane Ferrryman, 34, of 804 Hazle St., Tamaqua, failing to furnish drug free sample to probation officer, sentenced to serve two weeks to 12 months in the county prison beginning Thursday, April 26, at 9 a. m., and pay $50 to CJEA. She was cited by Pottsville Sgt. John R Morrow, last Jan. 13.Ricky Charles Nelson, 34, of 103 N. Lehigh St., Tamaqua, simple assault on Darin Saladigo at Freddy's Pub, in Tamaqua, last Aug. 11, sentenced to serve one to two years in a state correctional facility and make restitution of $43,924.31 to victim. Nelson was cited by Patrolman Karl Harig.Betty J. Ryder, 29, of 223 Valley St., Brockton, Schuylkill Township, DUI of alcohol, sentenced to a flat 30 days in the county prison beginning Friday, April 27, at 9 a.m., followed by four years and 11 months in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) to serve 30 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring at a cost of $12 per day, followed by 30 days wearing a bracelet to monitor whereabouts, followed by seven months strick probation, and four years probation; pay a fine of $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, attend alcohol highway safe driving school, perform 10 hours community service, driver's license suspended 18 months, and for 12 months must install an ignition interlock on her car.On a summary charge of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Ryder was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Charles Blesse, on Aug. 12, 2010.Jonathan R. Lux, 25, of 274 Van Gelder St., Tamaqua, DUI, placed in IPP for six months with 15 days under house arrest followed by four months and 45 days on probation, fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, complete safety school, make restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, perform 10 hours community service, and license suspended 12 months. Lux was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Jeffrey Wainwright, on Oct. 3, 2010.Lux previously was in the ARD program for 12 months but violated it before he completed his probation and it was terminated.Francis Howie Kephart, 21, of 315 Donley Run, Weatherly, while doing construction work at 109 Silverbrook Road, Kline Township, stole personal property including a shotgun according to Kline Township Chief John Petrilla, on April 21, 2011.He was sentenced to serve nine to 23 months in the Carbon County Prison beginning Wednesday, April 25, at 9 a.m. and is eligible for work release, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and make restitution of $175 to Charles Laputka, the victim.Domalakes added that Kephart must maintain a minimum of 30 hours per week if on work release in Carbon County and if he violates the rules he will be remanded immediately to Schuylkill County prison.John Correll, 24, of 1008 S. Kennedy Drive, McAdoo, criminal conspiracy to commit theft was placed on probation 18 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, $50 to district attorney's office, and make restitution of $238 to Walmart Store, Hometown.On the charge of driving while his license was suspended was fined $200 plus $50 costs. Correll was cited by Rush Patrolman Corey Herring.Jacob John Davis, 23, of 485 W. Broad St., Hazleton, retail theft from Walmart Store, Hometown, and Walmart Store in Saint Clair, received a six to 23 months prison sentence to run concurrent with a sentence serving in Carbon County, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and make restitution $253.37 to the Hometown Store and $676 to the Saint Clair store.Each defendant must also pay additional court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
