A former Tamaqua man was tried in absentia when he failed to appear for his trial Monday in Schuylkill County court.

Michael Francis Ortlip, 25, last known address, Pottsville, was found guilty by a jury of all charges, indecent assault of person under age 13 years, corruption of minors, indecent assault without consent, and indecent assault of person under age 16 years. The alleged incidents occurred in Tamaqua. Charges were filed on Feb. 19, 2011, by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods.Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin, after the jury returned the verdict, issued a bench warrant to have Ortlip placed under arrest and brought to the county prison to await appearance in court for sentencing.He will be ordered first to appear before the state's Sexual Offenders Assessment Boad for evaluation upon which the judge will determine the sentence. The tentative date set for sentencing is Thursday, July 12.Not guiltyDavid Paul Haller, 44, no address, was found not guilty by a jury of charges of robbery of a dirt bike, theft, terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. President Judge William E. Baldwin ordered Haller be released from the county prison.At the trial Matthew Krammes, Schuylkill Haven, a high school student, testified he was riding his dirt bike along a railroad track between Schuylkill Haven and Landingville and came upon Haller, whom he claimed pointed a rifle at him and ordered him off the bike, and also struck him. The bike was found the next day in the area where the attack was reported to have taken place.Split verdictCarl William Adams, 57, Pine Grove, was found guilty by a jury of simple assault and resisting arrest but not guilty of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.Judge Charles M. Miller deferred sentencing to Wednesday, May 30 and permitted Adams to remain free on his current bail. The judge ordered a pre-sentence investigative report prepared by the adult probation department.Adams was charged by Pine Grove Patrolman Christopher Cruz, on June 21, 2011. He claimed Adams assaulted him when he questioned him about a motor vehicle code violation. Adams claimed he didn't see the officer until he "grabbed" him.Changes pleaSteven Scott Kreitzer, 45, Camp Hill, Dauphin County, when his case was attached for trial before a jury changed his mind about proceeding and entered a plea of nolo contendere (no defense).Judge Jacqueline Russell dismissed the jury and imposed a sentence on Kretizer to serve six to 12 months in a state correctional institution on charges of giving false information to police, driving while his license was suspended and two counts of altering or forging the license plate on his car.
