Seven placed in probation program

Seven persons were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program for first time offenders on Monday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, the Commonwealth reserves the right to prosecute them on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Samantha Arriann Gillen, 19, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of simple assault. She was arrested on March 27, 2011, by Palmerton police for an incident along Franklin Avenue with her mother, Christine Greenzweig, the listed victim.She was assessed $350 for the program, get both a mental health and drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluations and follow any recommendations, and render 50 hours of community service.Crystal A. Heffelfinger, 31, of Lansford, was placed on a charge of false identification to law enforcement officer. She was arrested on Sept. 5, 2011, by Lansford police for an incident in the area of 300 W. Bertsch St.She was assessed $300, and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Holly Kuneck, 62, of Palmerton, was placed on a bad check charge. She was arrested on July 1 by Palmerton police for allegedly issuing a bad check to the borough.She was assessed $350, ordered to make restitution of $335.52 (which has already been paid), and render 50 hours of community service.Brandy Lynne Osgood, 28, of Palmerton, was placed for two years on a charge of false/fraud insurance claim. She was arrested by the state Attorney General's office for making a claim to her auto insurance company for damages to a vehicle for an accident. The claim was false, but no money was paid as the claim was denied by the insurance company.She was assessed $350, and ordered to render 100 hours of community service.Denise Suzanne Spieker, 31, of Albrightsville, was placed for six months on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Oct. 22, 2011, along Little Gap Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .11BAC.She was assessed $400, ordered to get a D&A evaluation, license suspended for 30 days, and render 25 hours of community service.Jordan Michael Tessitore, 20, of Lansford, was placed on a charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana. He was arrested on Dec. 19, 2011, by Nesquehoning police in the area of the McDonald's restaurant on Market St.He was assessed $350, ordered to get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance on D&A use, and render 50 hours of community service.Meggan A. Wildman, 26, of Northampton, placed on a DUI charge. She was arersted on Nov. 14, 2011, along SR248 in Palmerton. Given a test, the result was .12BAC.She was assessed $400, and ordered to get a D&A evalaution, license suspended for 30 days, and render 50 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay court costs, which average close to $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
