A Carbon County woman was sentenced to a minimum of six months in the county prison on Tuesday after pleading guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) and a related count.

Donna Marie Demarco, 48, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded guilty to DUI and driving while under suspension-DUI related. She was arrested on April 13, 2011, along Behrens Road in Penn Forest Township after being involved in a one vehicle crash.State police at Lehighton responded to the scene and found Demarco's car in a creek. She originally told police that someone else was driving her car when it crashed but later admitted being the driver. She was given a test which resulted in a .24BAC.At the time of the incident she had no license as it was under suspension for a prior DUI conviction.President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II sentenced her to serve 90 days to five years in jail on the DUI count, pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for a year, and get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment.On the driving under suspension charge she was sentenced to serve 90 days in jail, a fine of $500 and another one year suspension. The sentence is consecutive to the DUI charge.She will begin the jail term on April 6 at 6 p.m. It was noted she is facing sentencing in Lehigh County on April 2 for another DUI conviction.ARD placementMichael J. Rehl, 40, of Lehighton, was placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program for first time offenders on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Sept. 10, 2011, along Fairyland Road, in Franklin Township. Given a test, the result was .10BAC.Nanovic assessed him $400 for the cost of the program, and ordered he get a D&A evaluation, license suspended for 60 days, and render three hours of community service per month while in the program.If he successfully completes the program his record will be wiped clean.Both defendants must also pay court costs, which average close to $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
