Fire company driveDiligence Fire Company No. 1, Summit Hill, is in the midst of its 2012 fund drive.This is the company's main source of revenue and helps the firemen pay loans associated with its trucks, as well as to provide the apparatus necessary to have a fully-equipped fire service.The donations can be mailed to the company in the envelope provided in the recent mailing, or they can be dropped off at John's Auto Repair or the office of the borough secretary.In addition to the donations, the company is asking townspeople to return the survey information cards that were included in the mailing.This helps the firemen properly identify residents needs in the case of a response.OLOAA registrationOur Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, is accepting registrations for kindergarten and new students in grades 1-8. Parents can register their child(ren) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at the school. They can also contact the school office, (570) 645-7170/7101, to pre-arrange a more convenient time for signing up.At the time of registration, parents must present the child's birth certificate, baptismal certificate, immunization records and a registration fee.Food pantryThe Summit Hill Food Pantry, headquartered in the Summit Hill Heritage Center building, Hazard and Chestnut streets, will hold its monthly distribution of nonperishable food items to the needy on Tuesday, March 27. This will be the regular Easter distribution.The distributions will take place from 10 a.m. to noon.Rosemarie Armon, pantry director, is maintaining an up-to-date roster with telephone numbers of regular recipients. Anyone whose contact information changes is required to notify her of that information.LansfordEaster egg huntSt. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will hold its third annual Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 1, beginning at noon in the parking lots behind the church. A brunch will follow in the church hall.Children from the parish up to age 10 are welcome to participate and must be accompanied by an adult.To register their child, parents are asked to call the church office, (570) 645-2282, during normal business hours Monday through Friday.Fire training exercisesThe American Fire Co. No. 1 of Lansford will be conducting live fire training at its east Dock Street training grounds on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.Residents are to be aware that smoke conditions may exist within the area and should not be alarmed.CoaldaleFirst Congregational ChurchMorning Worship will be held at First Congregational Church at 9 a.m. Sunday, March 25, followed by Sunday School for all ages at 10 a.m.The church ministry group will visit the Hometown Nursing Center at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27.Lenten services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, followed by choir rehearsal.A Palm Sunday service is set for 9 a.m. Sunday, April 1, with distribution of palms. Sunday School will be at 10 a.m.NesquehoningDemocrats to meetThe Nesquehoning Democrats will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 25 at Maple Shade Meadows. Plans for the upcoming election will be discussed. All Democrats are urged to attend.
