If you said the versatile duct tape, you would be right.Can you use duct tape to make things?Absolutely.Members of Western Pocono Community Library's Teen Advisory Board (TAB) and NiteLite proved that recently when Patti Weiss, WPCL's assistant to the library director and TAB/NiteLite advisor, challenged them to use their imagination and creativity to make anything they wanted out of duct tape for a contest.She received 18 entries, ranging from a simple bag to a wearable dress.There was a taco, a wallet, shoes, a kite, a flower pen, a bunny holding a carrot, a backpack, an origami mobile, hang-glide with a GI Joe, a Coach purse, a helmet, lunchbox and a tie.The four winners were:*1st Place-Aime Seawood for her white dress trimmed in pink with the Breast Cancer Awareness insignia with headband and purse. She lost her grandfather and an aunt to cancer and she made it in memory of them and to help promote cancer awareness.*2nd Place-Noelle Strahle. She made a green frog on a multicolored lily pad with a red flower.*3rd Place-Madison Roberts, 4th grader at PVE made a multi-colored vase with four different colored flower pens. She got the idea from an Idea book.*4th Place-LeeAnn Bachman, a PVI 7th grader, made a vase with a flower that had a hummingbird drinking from it.They each received a prize from the Prize Box."All the entries were great. The judges had a hard time choosing a winner. I'm very proud of their creativity," said Weiss.TAB is for students in grades 7-12 and Nite Lite is a literary group for students in 3-6.
