Brush fire claims over 500 sq ft in West Penn

Dry weather and heat from a chainsaw combined to spark a large brush fire just before 2 p.m. Sunday in a grassy field of a West Penn property located at 1136 High Drive. Emergency responders has to use brush trucks and long hoses to reach the fire. Responding were West Penn police and firefighters from West Penn and Mahoning Valley. Kyle Dunkelberger, property owner, stated his appreciation to all the firefighters who responded to help control the fast moving fire, which claimed about 500 square feet of grass and brush. West Penn fire police controlled traffic around High Drive for the duration.
