Laura Palmer, a student at Weatherly Area High School, has qualified to participate in the Pennsylvania All State Band Festival, to be held April 19-21 in Lancaster. She will perform with the All State Ensemble on April 21 and will have the opportunity to audition for the 2013 All Eastern Ensemble. A private flute student of Mrs. Judy Schmaldienst, Palmer regularly performs at Heritage Hill in Weatherly and with the Hazleton Philharmonic Orchestra. Her recent performances also include the Region 5 Band Festival at Chambersburg, the District 10 Orchestra Festival at Parkland High School, the District 10 Band Festival at Nazareth High School and first chair flute for the Carbon County Band Festival. The Weatherly Area High School Band is under the direction of Ms. Shannon Shughart.
