The winter season around Northeastern Pennsylvania saw some cold temperature records tumble, and above normal precipitation. An average temperature of 20.5 degrees made this February the second coldest on record, according to Richard Hosler, the official in charge of the National Weather Service station in Allentown. The coldest was 16.4 degrees recorded in 1934, Hosler said. The first 21 days of Feburary averaged 15.1 degrees, and only last week's above normal temperatues prevented a new record.
