They're are all amped up and ready to steal the show at what will undoubtedly be their marquee performance of the year.

Any last second jitters will have to be overcome when members of the Northern Lehigh High School Band play at the 54th annual Lehigh County Honors Band Festival.The concert will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Whitehall High School Auditorium. The Host director this year is Matthew Tanzos, band director of Whitehall High School.The selections for this year's concert are: The Star Spangled Banner, Farandole, King Cotton, Gaelic Rhapsody, Roosters Lay Eggs in Kansas, Porgy and Bess, Star Trek, Song Suite for Band, Armed Forces Salute, Flourish for Band, and Morning's First Light.The Lehigh County Honors band is comprised of students from the 11 high schools in Lehigh County: Northern Lehigh, Northwestern Lehigh, Southern Lehigh, Whitehall, Catasauqua, Salisbury, Allentown Central Catholic, Emmaus, Parkland, Dieruff, and William Allen High School.The students are selected to represent their schools by the Lehigh County Band Directors Association in early-December, according to Northern Lehigh High School Band Director David Carroll. The festival concert requires twenty hours of rehearsal by the students and band directors, he said.Chosen to represent Northern Lehigh at this year's concert are sophomores Marc Beleno, Zac Schegel, and Abigail Messinger; juniors Dana Fricker and Clay Hardy; and seniors Heather Heiney and Michael Miller.Carroll said the purpose of the festival is to "promote music education in our schools, show case the great musical talent that exists in Lehigh County, and to give our band students a unique and enriching instrumental experience which extends beyond the typical concert band settings that exist in most public schools.""I am pleased at the level of preparation all of the students have done to prepare for this year's concert," Carroll said. "I am, as always, very proud of my Northern Lehigh students."
