Veteran honoredThe American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, recently honored an Army veteran for 60 years of continuous membership in the post.Charles Frassinelli, 320 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, received the certificate of recognition from Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell.Frassinelli is a 1946 graduate of the former Summit Hill High School who later enlisted in the Army.A highly-regarded fullback and linebacker on the gridiron, he was playing varsity football for the former Summit Hill High School at the age of 13, and went on to earn four letters in football and two in track, twice being captain (46 and 47) of the Hillers and earning All State honors in two polls.Graduating from SHHS in 1946 at the age of 16, he was recruited by 27 colleges and universities for both his football and academic talents, but chose semi-professional football instead, playing for the Summit Hill Tigers.He later enlisted in the Army and while there led the Fort Bliss Service Team to two consecutive Fourth Army Championships, being named to the Army All Star First Team as a fullback.Upon returning home, he worked for the former Bundy Tubing Co., Hometown, and the U.S. Postal Service, and is currently employed by the Parambo funeral homes, Summit Hill and Lansford.St. Paul LutheranSt. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, has announced its schedule of guest ministers for the month of March as follows:Sundays, March 4 the Rev. Richard Hinkle, retired, from Weatherly; March 11 the Rev. John Deisinger, retired, from Allentown; March 18 the Rev. Peggy Sue Pfeffer, chaplain for Hospice St. John, from Hazleton; and March 26 Rev. Deisinger.The parish will hold a congregation council on Tuesday, March 13, at 7 p.m.Also on March's schedule is a Sunday school visit to the Carbon County Environmental Center on Saturday, March 24, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., during which time the youths will make bird boxes.
