Lansford Laundromat fire caused by grease rags

ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS Firefighters were called to the Lansford Laundromat a little after 12 p.m. yesterday after a dryer caught fire. The fire was caused when someone placed grease rags in the dryer. Lansford Police Chief John Turcmanovich arrived first and extinguished the fire. Firefighters responded to the smoke-filled laundromat and removed the smoldering rags. They also placed exhaust fans at exits to expel the smoke. In addition to minor damage, one of the dryers was damaged in the fire. Lansford Ambulance and fire police also responded.
