Lions to meetThe monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Lions Club will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at Kelly's Irish Pub and Restaurant, Lansford. Judy Midas, first vice president, will chair the session.The meeting will begin with the dinner at 6 p.m., followed by the business session. The guest speakers will be Lions Zone Chairwoman Alicia Silliman, and the regional chairwoman, Sandy Gallagher.Members are asked to make their planned attendance known by contacting Midas by Friday, Feb. 24.The club is also planning to participate in the American Cancer Society's telethon in April. Volunteers are needed to answer the telephones on Sunday, April 15, from 8-10 p.m.Food pantryThe Summit Hill Food Pantry, headquartered in the Heritage Center at Hazard and Chestnut streets, will hold its monthly distributions on Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon. The doors will open promptly at 10 o'clock. Those attending are asked to bring tote bags for "extras."Persons who receive the food "boxes" are asked to note no telephone call reminders will be made. In the event there is a change in pantry hours due to snowstorms, etc., the recipients will be notified by telephone. Rosemarie Armon, pantry director, is maintaining an up-to-date roster with telephone numbers of regular recipients. Anyone whose contact information changes is required to notify her of that information.LansfordBaseball sign-upsThe Lansford Baseball Association will be holding sign-ups for T-ball, Little League, Girls Softball and Babe Ruth tonight from 6-8 o'clock in the Lansford American Legion Post Home. Applicants can enter by the side door. Parents can register their child(ren) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at the school.
