Members of the Preceptor Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority met Feb. 8 at the Clamtown Tavern. Lori Shmerfeld hosted the meeting, treating members to wings and pizza.Topics discussed included upcoming events, including a pancake breakfast fundraiser on March 10 at Applebee's in Hazleton; the annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on March 31 at the Bungalow Park; and the mid-eastern convention on June 22-24 in Gettysburg.Following the business meeting, desserts were served by Donna Hiles and Secret Sister Valentine's gifts were exchanged.The next regular meeting will be held Feb. 22 at the Sports Zoo in LansfordSenior citizensThe Tamaqua Seniors met Feb. 16 at the Tamaqua Community Center with 63 members and one guest, Roxanne Dombrosky, in attendance. Vice President Nancy Gerber conducted the business meeting and provided her weekly report.Secretary Joan Anne Garber provided the invocation, entitled "Each Day Is A Gift" and provided her weekly report.Valentine's Day was celebrated, with Mike Rego selected as Valentine's King and Ruth Kemmerer as Valentine's Queen.The group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., at the community center. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The center is handicap accessible.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville.
