The February meeting of the Tamaqua Board of Health was held at the municipal building with Randolph Gormley, James Gormley, Earl Boettger, Shirley Becker and Health Enforcement Officer James Barron in attendance.Barron submitted his report for January, during which time he received and adjusted three complaints. The complaints were: two complaints concerning rubbish/trash; and a rental unit without heat. There were no cases of reportable diseases last month.The board meets the first Tuesday of each month, at 10 a.m., in the Tamaqua Municipal Building.Older and bolderThe Older and Bolder Program, sponsored by the Tamaqua Salvation Army, will "spring back" into action on March 14. The program will be held on following Wednesdays, with activities scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.Area residents age 55 and older are welcome to attend. Sessions will include organized activities, guest speakers and a light lunch for registered participants.March activities will also include: March 14, Irish/green theme; March 21, handbell practice and an exerette demonstration from a Diakon representative; March 28, hand bell rehearsal and computer lab.For more information, or to register, call (570) 668-0410. The Salvation Army is located at 105 W. Broad St., Tamaqua.St. John UCCThe Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship. Sunday school classes for all ages will be held at 11 a.m.The weekly radio program will be aired on WLSH - AM1410, at 11:30 a.m.Activities for next week will include: Monday, stewardship committee will meet at 6:30 p.m., spiritual council will meet at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Ash Wednesday service at 7:30 p.m.Calvary UMCarol Stein, youth leader, will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, a praise, worship and Bible study session will be held at 6:30 p.m.Wednesday prayer and praise services are held at 7 p.m. in the church.
