Added displays

More model trains have been added to the model train display at the Palmerton Heritage Center, 410 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, recently. Some of these were custom-made to match actual NJZ cars, and others have historical significance.The display will continue through February, and the Heritage Center is open various hours, Wednesday through Saturday each week. Phone (610) 824-6954 for a recording of the hours each day. Admission is free.Lutheran World Relief QuiltersThe quilting group at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton, will meet from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 4, to tie quilts. The group is always looking for donations of fabric to use for knotted quilts, which when finished, are sent to Africa through Lutheran World Relief.Anyone with donations may drop them off at the church, or call the office at (610) 826-2524.If you are interested in helping to assemble the quilts, you are welcome to join the group.Concourse ClubThe Palmerton Concourse Club will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 2, at Holy Trinity Parish Hall, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. The program for the evening will be "Quilts and American History". Members are reminded to bring cookies for nursing homes.Anyone interested in joining this service club is asked to call Joan Turko at (610) 826-2716.Tail Waggin' TutorsTail Waggin' Tutors is children reading to dogs and sponsored by Therapy Dogs International, Inc. They will be at the Palmerton Area Library on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 11 a.m. to noon. It is free to all area children, but they must register ahead of time for a time slot.They are at the library the second Saturday of each month.Call the library at (610) 826-3424 for information.
