Four area residents were among 14 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in the Schuylkill County Court and were sentenced by Judge John E. Domalakes.

Joseph Michael Machay, 27, of 129 Walnut St., Tuscarora, Schuylkill Township, on a driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol charge was placed on probation for six months, fined $300, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend alcohol highway safe driving school, complete outpatient substance abuse counseling and driver's license suspended 12 months. Machay was cited by Trooper Michael D. Marinchak on Old Route 209 between Tuscarora and Reevesdale last May 15.Matthew Walter Buziak, 26, of 47 Water St., New Philadelphia, on a charge of criminal trespass by breaking into the building of Moe's Pub, 59 Water St., New Philadelphia, was placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to Criminal Justice Education Account (CJEA), make restitution of $148 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, and must undergo drug and alcohol evaluation and follow up treatment if recommended. Buziak was cited by Cpl. Leo R. Luciani, state trooper.Michele Linda Romig, 38, of 101 E. High St., Coaldale, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school, enroll in Chemical Dependency Program and driver's license suspended 12 months. Romig was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Jeremy Talanca, last April 5.She also pleaded guilty to violation of the state welfare code by receiving $11,230 worth of federal food stamps while not be eligible, and was placed on probation for 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $11,230 to the Department of Welfare. Charges were brought by the state attorney general's office.Romig also pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (CS) and drug paraphernalia and was given credit for spending five days in the county prison and was released on parole to run concurrent with the other sentences. She also must pay fines totaling $300, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA and $176 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Romig was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Charles Blesse, last April 5.Joanne M. Rowlands, 51, of 70 Whitetail Crossing, Wildcat Development, Walker Township, on a charge of delivery of a CS to a confidential informant in Tamaqua on Dec. 10, 2010, was sentenced to serve three to 23 months in the county prison and is granted immediate parole when completing minimum and sentence and will serve her probation under electronic monitoring, pay a fine of $150, pay $50 CJEA, $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, and $100 to Schuylkill County Drug Task Force. Rowlands was cited by Tamaqua Sgt. Richard A. Weaver.Rowlands also pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver in Tamaqua on Dec. 21 and received a concurrent sentence plus payment of $50 CJEA and forfeiture of a total $15,920 confiscated by Tamaqua police.Jesse Charles Albertini, 23, Pottsville, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 10 days to one year in the county prison, fined $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $200 to Catastrophe fund, attend safety school, undergo individual treatment for alcohol problem, and license suspended 12 months. On summary charges of following another vehicle too closely and failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $50 plus $100 costs. Albertini was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Renee Galle.Ralph Thomas Clocker, 47, Frackville, on a charge of DUI was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for six months, to serve the first 10 days under house arrest followed by four months and 50 days under probation, fined $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, undergo outpatient substance abuse treatment and make restitution of $1,261.14 to Premium Gas Station, Frackville, for damage to gas pump. Clocker was cited by Trooper Mark Demko.David James Fitting, 27, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of possession of an instrument of crime by providing a handgun to a person who suffered a self inflicted gun shot wound, was placed on probation 23 months, fined $200, pay $50 to CJEA, perform 20 hours of community service, and pay $794 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Fitting was cited by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman Warren G. Firing.Justin Paul Haines, 24, Shenandoah, on a charge of giving a false name Shenandoah police when questioned about an accident by backing into another vehicle was fined $200 and pay $50 to CJEA.Glen Aurthur Mars Jr., 48, Pine Grove, on a DUI charge was placed in the IPP for six months with the first 15 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay the cost of $12 per day followed by four months and 45 days on probation, fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $180 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school and license suspended 12 months. Mars was cited by Trooper Timothy J. Rymarkiewicz on Cressona Road in North Manheim Township.Joseph Patton, 21, on charges of delivery and possession intent to deliver a CS from his apartment on the Schuylkill Campus of Penn State University in North Manheim Township, was sentenced to serve two to 23 1/2 months in the county prison with the sentence to begin on Tuesday, May 8, at 9 a.m. after he concludes his studies at the at the college. He also must pay fines totaling $400, pay $200 to SAE fund, $100 to CJEA, make restitution of $339 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, and $226 to Pennsylvania State Police Lab. He was cited by the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.James Walter Preneta, 28, Shenandoah, on a charge of harassing an inmate in the county prison was fined $25 and pay $50 to CJEA.
