Members of the Fairview Hose Company in East Mauch Chunk answered an emergency call for services today to rescue a kitten that had been "treed" on South Street. "Oscar," owned by the Emory Sofranko family, was chased up the tree by a dog on Wednesday and had been occupying its lofty perch in Frank E. McGinley's walnut tree since that time. Fire Chief George Hummel scaled a tall ladder to retrieve Oscar. Over 50 spectators gathered to witness the feat.
