Historical societyThe monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Historical Society will be held tonight at 7 o'clock in the society's new location, the former Jean McFadden's Grocery Store, 136 W. Ludlow St. Lee Mantz, president, will be in charge of the session.The main topic on the agenda will be discussion on the improvements to the new museum location.Lou Vermillion will be taking over as the organization's treasurer.Lions to meetThe next meeting of the Summit Hill Lions Club will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at The Batter's Box. This will be the club's first meeting of the new year.For 2012, Dr. Kenneth Vermillion will remain in the capacity of president. Other officers are Judy Midas, first vice president; Thomas Ponting, second vice president; Kathy Crampsie, secretary; Joe O'Gurek, treasurer; Janel Tirpak, Tail Twister; Bill Chapman, Lion Tamer; and the Rev. James Burdess, chaplain.The gathering will begin with the dinner at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting, during which time District Governor Scott Dudley will address the members.Midas will be in charge of the session.Lions planning to attend are asked to reply to her before Friday, Jan. 20.St. Paul LutheranThe Rev. Robert Brueckner, a retired pastor from Nescopeck, will lead the worship service on Sunday, Jan. 22, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m.The church's Sunday school will meet at 9 a.m.Members of the Sunday School/Youth Group are asked to note the group activity that had been scheduled for Jan. 22 has been canceled.Church members who are responsible for submitting year-end congregational reports are reminded they are due by Jan. 29 for the congregational meeting that will be held on Feb. 5.Scripture sharingSt. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will continue its weekly scripture sharing sessions tonight.The sessions are held on Wednesday evenings at 7 o'clock in the parish rectory.LansfordSt. John LutheranOn Wednesday at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion.
