Revolution Fitness Studio offers classes in Tamaqua

A new type of fitness studio has opened in downtown Tamaqua.

Co-owners Amanda Hascin and Caitlin Miller wanted to create a place where people could come to make serious changes in their life, starting with their physical condition and healthy living. That led to the creation of Revolution Fitness Studio LLC, also called RevFit, which occupies the old Wenzel's Bakery at 125 E. Broad St."We wanted to provide a high quality fitness classes based on principles that research has shown to be the most effective strategies for weight loss. After considering all of our options, we decided that opening our own studio would be the best option," Hascin said. "RevFit's mantra, aptly dubbed 'make the change', embodies the concept that change must be made to improve overall health and wellness."Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce members, as well as family members and friends, were on hand during the ribbon cutting and open house for the studio."Monthly class registration requires each client to set a personal and measurable goal," said Miller. "In order to achieve a goal, you have to know what you are working towards."Hascin pointed out that everyone has to make their own goal as each person has a different body shape, ability level and baseline level of fitness.Miller and Hascin, who are also teachers in the Tamaqua Area School District, said the goal is to motivate, instruct and assist clients in achieving both short-term and long-term fitness goals."Our clients have a variety of classes and plans to choose from, such as Piloxing, which uniquely blends the power, speed and agility of boxing with the sculpting and flexibility of Pilates, which is a fat torching, muscle sculpting, core-centric interval workout," Hascin said.Other forms of exercise offered are "butts and guts", an interval workout, consisting of exercises designed to target and tone the lower body as well as the core, and "REV Camp", which combines plyometric cardio intervals with strength training and muscle conditioning exercises.Classes are offered Monday through Thursday evening and Saturday morning.
